With over 20 years in COMMUNICATION DESIGN Joey Morgan consistently develops surprising marketing solutions for a diverse group of clients. An EXPERT in IMAGE CREATION, enhancement and retouching, she has developed AWARD-WINNING PROJECTS in education, health care, luxury product, and editorial design.

 

EXPERIENCE
No slouch to Adobe's creative suite software (brief pause for a nostalgic moment remembering the Mac SE 30 and Illustrator 88.), she works independently or in collaboration with a core group (copywriters, designers, programmers, illustrators, project managers, production support) who share an enthusiasm for challenging and creative assignments.

 

Education
briefly at Bard, educated at RISD, and graduated with honors from the School of Visual Arts, NY, (all a long long time ago).

Art Director/Graphic Designer (20010-2015). Responsibilities included: yearly/holiday catalogs, (concept, design, art direction for photoshoots, layout and production); branding, package design and production; startegic redesign of website and regular updates to home page images; promotional material for events; collateral material; editing press releases; store signage - templates and seasonal. Branding and package design for Jouvay Chocolate (L.A. Burdick Grenada); design and production for CFFI (Cocoa Farmers Futures Initiative) graphic material.

Church & Main advertising
Art Director/Senior Designer (2000-2009) Responsibilities included: concept/campaign development for a diverse range of clients (e.g., Dartmouth Medical School; New Hampshire Ball Bearings; Provena Health Hospital System); ongoing design feedback and critique for 5 staff designers; photo illustration and image retouching for print and web ( Turmoil, Colonial Theater, Bensonwood); web design and programming; concept and production for Church & Main self-promotion campaigns; video art direction and storyboards (Easter Seals, Provena St. Joseph Medical Center) art direction and photoshop retouching (Whitney Brothers, Findings, Crown Point Cabinetry, Audio Accessories, Vermont Soapstone); art/set direction (Mark Fernald for Governor, TV commercials).

AMERICAN BOYFRIENDS
assistant art director
for the film AMERICAN BOYFRIENDS, Alliance Entertainment Corp., 1988, producer: Stephen DeNure, director: Sandy Wilson. Responsibilities included: assisting in productin design, coordinating art departments, graphic design (signage, neon) visual research including period film and television clips, fact checking time period and locale. 1989 Genie Nomination Best Achievement in Art Direction.

 

MY AMERCIAN COUSIN
set decorator for the film MY AMERICAN COUSIN, The OK Motion Picture Co, 1985, producer: Peter O'Brian, director: Sandy Wilson. Responsibilities included: researching period/locale, designing sets on-location, set dressing, continuity of props and sets. 1986 Genie Nomination Best Achievement in Art Direction; 1986 Genie, Best Picture

 

Joey Morgan has developed public artworks and multi-disciplinary installations which have been shown in site specific contexts and gallery exhibitions in the United States, Australia, Europe and Canada. She represented Canada in 1992 in the Sydney Biennial and represented Vancouver in 1996 in Copenhagen's 96 Containers, Art Across Oceans and has been awarded artist in residence at the Cité Des Arts in Paris, at Oud Amelisweerd in the Netherlands, and at Strokestown House in Ireland.

Solo and Major Exhibition venues have included Le Fresnoy in Tourcoing, France; the Passerelle in Brest, France; the National Gallery of Canada; the Power Plant and Mercer Union in Toronto; the Musée d'art Contemporain, Centre International d'Art Contemporain (CIAC), Optica Gallery, and the Darling Foundry in Montréal; the Walter Phillips Gallery in Banff; the MacKenzie Gallery in Regina, Saskatchewan, the Southern Alberta Art Gallery in Lethbridge, the Vancouver Art Gallery, Presentation House, and the Contemporary Art Gallery in Vancouver.

Major installations are held in public collections including the Vancouver Art Gallery, the Musée d'art Contemporain in Montréal, MacKenzie Gallery in Regina Saskatchewan, the City of Vancouver, and the Art Bank of Canada. Smaller works are held in public and private collections. Bookworks held in public collections including: Museum of Modern Art; Printed Matter/Dia; University of Southern California; Carnegie Mellon University, National Gallery of Canada.

Prizes and Awards include: the Canada Council (including the Lynch Staunton Award), the National Endowment for the Arts, the British Columbia Cultural Fund, and the Vermont Council for the Arts, the Saskatchewan Book Award, ( for The Man Who Waits and Sleeps While I Dream) and the Alberta Book Design Award (for How To Avoid the Future Tense).
